Sunflower Splendor
Besides the tulip I think my other favorite flower is the sunflower. In this painting that was all that I was trying to focus on .....simply the sunflower.
Wet Watchmen of Rehoboth
The Rehoboth Art League is a local favorite for many art lovers and visitors. Outside one of the buildings is a sculpture of 3 men that are holding umbrellas created by artist Gary Hughes. Two of the 3 men have a kind of Laurel & Hardy look to them. Water drips over top of the statue continually. I felt like they were watching over the Art League and made a nice subject as guards of the art. |
Daddy's Boots
A favorite subject for any grandparent is their grandchildren. I decided to paint the joy of James in his father's boots. It's too bad that we as adults don't appreciate the simple joy of a child.
Jewels of the Sea
There are many ways of doing still lifes so I took some shells to the beach and created a still life of my favorites.
It was juried into the 2020 9th Regional Juried Biennial Exhibition at the Rehoboth Art League.

PatternsBecause I paint from photographs that I have taken I decided to take a photography class to better hone my skills. As part of the class I'd been taking pictures of this conch shell in various settings around my house. The photo that caught my eye was one I'd taken on a quilt on my bed. I was fascinated by the patterns in the shell against the patterns in the quilt...thus the name.
